Marta Arribas and Ana Pérez's film El tren de la memoria (The Memory Train) documents a dark period in Spanish history: in the 1960s, poverty and political strife drove roughly two million unskilled, unemployed, and illiterate Spaniards from their homes in search of work in other West European countries, primarily France, Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
