Art JonOne: Miami Beat

We can't think of a better location for a graffiti-inspired show than Carol Jazzar's garage-turned-gallery. Internationally acclaimed artist JonOne has transformed Jazzar's exhibition space into a whirlwind of strange, bulbous objects; in numerous paintings and new murals, JonOne's simple, childlike forms bounce and flirt with one another in a kaleidoscope of color and shape. Counting A-One and Samo (aka Jean-Michel Basquiat) among his contemporaries, the New York-based artist references abstract expressionism in ways that both honor and depart from graffiti's graphic/figurative tradition.
