Miami-based filmmaker Juan Carlos Zaldívar's 90 Miles, an homage to his Cuban homeland, has been kicking around the festival circuit for quite a while — in fact, back in '01, it won Best Documentary at both the New York Latino and Havana film fests. But don't think that time has diminished the effects of this heartfelt stroll across the Florida Straits; occurring in the chasm where the Cuban Revolution meets the American Dream, Zaldívar's poignant flick is at once a story of exile and a testament to the ties that bind a father to his son. It's also beautiful enough to break your heart.
