Saturday May 17 (9pm–2am)
Like a few famous musical folks before him, singer/songwriter/guitarist Raul Midón has taken life's proverbial lemons (blindness) and made lemonade (sweet, jazzy R&B pop). Tonight, the former University of Miami jazz student returns as part of the JVC Jazz Fest, alongside deep-house producer Osunlade, funky crooner Siji, and Quetzal Guerrero of the Yoruba Soul Orchestra. "Jazz" may be the festival's stated theme, but here, it's more of an umbrella for adventurous, internationally minded pop. DJ sets by Osunlade, local Djinji Brown, and Germany's Ranier Trüby complete the genre-crossing evening.
