Film The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948)

Netflix may offer John Huston's 1948 classic on demand, but there's nothing like seeing this epic on the big screen. Up there, you can best appreciate its desolate vistas, brimming with promise and paranoia. The film is based on B. Traven's book, which tells the tale of three down-and-out Americans hunting for Mexican outback gold. The prodigiously talented Huston shows that there's more in them thar hills than bandits and Federales.
