Athens, Georgia-based Corey Smith doesn't seem to fit anywhere or in any particular genre, which may explain why the self-made alt-country singer/songwriter stays on the road so much. Many of his tunes take a homespun approach — garnished by little more than his sweet croon and nimble guitar pickings — and find him musing on Southern life, drinking, and busted love. Although platinum record sales have eluded him thus far, Smith has built up an impressive fan base that keeps him in demand. As such, it wouldn't be surprising if he arrives to a packed house tonight.
