You've probably bellowed along with a David Allan Coe song without even knowing it. "Take This Job and Shove It" may have been a hit for country singer Johnny Paycheck, but Coe wrote those hallowed words (and who can remember the melody, anyway?). The rest of his songs aren't quite as popular — many of them are X-rated, and in some cases, racist. Diehard Coe-heads, however, defend his tunes as tongue-in-cheek send-ups of Southern culture. Of course, others boycott him altogether. Either way, there's bound to be a crowd tonight for Coe's second throwdown at Culture Room this year.
