Film Berkeley (2005)

If there's a single college campus that represents '60s counterculture, it's Berkeley, site of sit-ins and birthplace of the Free Speech Movement. So it's fitting that director Bobby Roth sets his story of the chaotic era's coming of age on the UC campus. Roth trains the camera on his son Nick in the lead role — you can suspect nepotism, but it probably has more to do with the younger Roth being a Berkeley student at the time of filming. With Sarah Carter, Bonnie Bedelia, Henry Winkler (aka the Fonz), and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine rounding out the cast, this tale ably captures the tumult of the time.
