Based on the book by James Simon Kunen (who penned it when he was 19) and scripted by Israel Horovitz (Beastie Boy Adam's dad), this so-called "youth movie" concerns a group of college kids coming to terms with the drugs, protests, and sexual awakenings of the '60s. The film is set in San Francisco, rather than the New York of the novel, so this version takes a decidedly trippy turn. Highlights include a soundtrack packed with nuggets from Thunderclap Newman and Buffy Sainte-Marie, a strong "anti-pig" message, and an appearance by Bruce Davison, who went on to do Willard and play Wyck Thayer on Seinfeld.
