Deborah Willis and Hank Willis Thomas, mother and son, collaborate for Progeny at Bernice Steinbaum Gallery. While each is an accomplished artist on his or her own, the two unite to produce poignant works in which phrases are superimposed over naked bodies. The seamless mix of images and language turns out to be a mysterious and subtle investigation of family, intimacy, and memory.
