- The Power of Good: Nicholas Winton
Saving one child's life is impressive, but preventing 669 children from being killed by Nazis is heroism of the highest order. A 29-year-old British stockbroker named Nicholas Winton did just such a thing in 1939, organizing eight separate transports to take mostly Jewish kids in Czechoslovakia to new homes in the UK. Like a true samaritan, he never took credit for his good deeds, and it wasn't until 1988, when his wife found an old scrapbook in the attic, that the story got out. Czech director Matej Mináč's The Power of Good is a compelling retelling that does justice to the now-knighted Winton's courageous acts of kindness.
