More Flavor: Lecture Robert Nickas

As part of its ongoing examination of the intersection of art and music, MoCA brings in Robert Nickas — an Artforum editor and former P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center curator — to expound on the New York art scene from the 1980s to the present. Nickas, who wrote a collection of essays and criticism entitled Live Free or Die, approaches his work with a keen wit and a DIY punk aesthetic; his most recent compilation, Theft Is Vision, evaluates the impact of Warhol and punk on pop and appropriation art, while championing a cast of unlikely artists ranging from Cady Noland to Johnny Vomit.
