Music: Rock/Pop Modest Mouse w/ Dirty Dozen Brass Band

The last time that manic indie rockers Modest Mouse made it down our way, during the 2006 Bang Music Festival, they barely had a chance to show off their newest member — the legendary Johnny Marr, formerly of the Smiths — before an uncooperative sound system brought the concert to an early end. Consider tonight's event something of a makeup show. It comes just as the band is finishing a trek across the country alongside R.E.M. and the National, and the group is still keeping good company: opening the concert is one of New Orleans' finest and funkiest musical exports, Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
