Puerto Rican-born, Miami-based pianist José Negroni has played with titans of Latin jazz, but he ups the ante with his own trio — which features his son Nomar on drums and a rotating cast of bassists. Negroni's Trio garnered a Latin Grammy nomination in 2005 for the album Piano/Drums/Bass, and tonight the three kick off Cacao Musica's Cosecha 2008 summer concert series with songs from their most recent release, Father & Son. Guest appearances from Ed Calle on sax and Marco Panasciao on bass spice up the evening.
