More Flavor: Spectacle Fabulous First Friday

Science museums may conjure middle-school memories of long bus rides and brown-bag lunches. But, like your high-school chemistry teacher, the Miami Science Museum makes science cool again. On the first Friday night of every month, the museum celebrates the subject with a star show in its planetarium, an entertaining lecture (this month's topic: hurricanes), and access to its massive telescopes. A laser show — complete with music from the Doors, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd — begins around mid-evening and runs until well past midnight. The event is the perfect place to reacquaint yourself with your love for the universe — or at least your love for making out with your date in the semi-darkness.
