June 6, 2008 – Sep 21, 2008
Tuesdays–Fridays (10am–5pm)
Saturdays–Sundays (noon–5pm)
Miami Art Museum's Shadows, Disappearances, and Illusions shows off a delightfully disorienting selection of contemporary optical art. Artists such as Martin Oppel and Regina Silveira contribute drawings, paintings, and installations that use complex geometric illusions to play perspective tricks. The viewer, thoroughly ensnared in each artist's visual trap, is forced to examine the world with new eyes. Also on view are commissioned installations from Miamians Tom Scicluna, Matt Schreiber, and Wendy Wischer.
