To its credit, Circa28 has largely resisted becoming part of Miami's downtown club clique. Had the Wynwood speakeasy been sucked into the party vortex, it might feel the scenester squeeze and not be able to host artists like Sr. Méndez. Tonight, the Venezuelan musician performs vibrant songs that mix traditional native folk with reggae, rock, and electronica, an eclectic blend of old and new that earned him a Latin Grammy in 2007. The Role and DJ Le Spam play supporting roles in this sophisticated evening.
