In Atom Egoyan's fourth feature, Noah is an insurance adjuster who catalogs the loss of life. His wife, Hera, works as a censor, extracting all the good stuff from films. While both jobs may seem like downers, the pair are easily titillated and approach everything they do in an extreme manner. Still, their zealotry is no match for that of Bubba and Mimi, a rich couple who play a very public game of dress-up — including characters such as Derelict and Dilettante. When the latter couple becomes obsessed with owning the home of the former, the surreal world spins out of control.
