Performing Arts: Dance Calle Flamenca

As part of this summer's Flamenco in the Sun series — which kicked off earlier this month in New York — Fort Lauderdale dance group Bailes Ferrer stomps out classic and contemporary flamenco tunes on the Amaturo Theater stage. The ensemble cast includes singer and telenovela star José Luis "El Puma" Rodríguez, musician Carlos Puig-Hatem, and dancer Nelida Tirado, while the company's founder and artistic director, Damaris Ferrer, is an acclaimed dancer and teacher who has helped nurture South Florida's growing flamenco scene for more than a decade.
