Flamenco in the Sun takes a break from the stage with a double bill of movies that capture the flamenco spirit. First up is Carmen Amaya: La Reina del Embrujo Gitano, a three-part documentary about the temperamental dancer who broke hearts and box-office records, and twice danced at the White House. Part one is made up of three short films, recorded in the '40s, featuring rarely seen footage of the diva in action; parts two and three are made up of silver-screen clips and a photo montage, respectively. The second film, Carmen, is a flamenco-fied version of Georges Bizet's classic opera.
