Film: Documentary Partisans of Vilna (1986)

The Nazi-made Jewish ghetto of Vilna (Vilnius) may not be as infamous as, say, the ghettos of Warsaw, Krakow, or even Budapest, but it may be the only one in which the Jews were completely exterminated. Before that evil was accomplished though, a ragtag band of underground fighters called the United Partisan Organization did everything in their power to fight the Third Reich, often working against the wishes of the very people they were intent on defending. Director Josh Waletzky chronicles the courageous exploits of Lithuania's Jewish resistance with the respect that it deserves.
