Inspired by Norman Rockwell's "Four Freedoms" posters of 1943, the Wolfsonian's Thoughts on Democracy is divided into a quartet of categories: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Fear, and Freedom from Want. Sixty contemporary artists provide their unique interpretations of Rockwell's originals, recently donated to the Wolfsonian by Leonard A. Lauder. This especially relevant group show strikes a chord with voters — if not for the patriotism-minded renderings, then for the exhibition's highly democratic price tag: free. Included are works by Richard Tuttle, Chip Kidd, Italo Lupi, and Neville Brody.
