Long before ESPN cashed in on precocious tykes spelling words they can barely pronounce, competitors at Chocolate Sundays waged their own word battles, fueled by licorice-flavored liquor. Last month's throwdown pitted delinquent journos and early-bird boozers against a crew of local librarians; surprisingly, the overtly literate lost out — blame the shots served for every correct spelling. Tonight is your chance to prove that your own passing grades in English weren't a fluke. The winner receives a $50 bar tab to make celebrating victory that much easier.
