Temple Judea says…

Top Chef host and former Mrs. Salman Rushdie Padma Lakshimi may now be in the Indian author's past, but don't think for a moment that the divorce has forced Mr. Rushdie to give up on women. In The Enchantress of Florence — a "romance adventure" set in Florence and the capital of India's Mughal Empire in the 15th and 16th centuries — women appear as princesses and whores, mermaids and old wives, both real and imagined. But it's the titular enchantress who's the focus of Rushdie's story; we follow her as she weaves a tale to Akbar the Emperor, who has his own ideas about the fairer sex.
