“Thanks to Primary Projects repeatedly embracing novel and sometimes controversial exhibits, the local art world can taste some more spice on its palette. The gallery launches 2012 with Jessy Nite’s first Miami-based solo show, Bad as I Wanna Be, which explores gender identity, money-hungry delusions, and the surreptitious side of urban culture. Various sculptures, paintings, and installations make good use of flowing typography and bold imagery (such as pies, lollipops, and jewel-encrusted cookies). While Nite won't be bringing in a pro stripper this time (as she once did at a previous group show here), this exhibit should confirm Primary Projects' continuous denunciation of anything vapid, as their artists and curators keep progressing on their own terms, uncensored and free.”
