In the grand tradition of Celtic folk-metal legends Skyclad and Cruachan, Slough Feg fuse Jethro Tull folkiness with NWOBHM. In addition to their Ren Fest bravado, they've got a bit of a fantasy vibe going — the SF-based quartet takes its name from a character in the British comic Slaine. Frontwoman Jaqueline Blownaparte, of local punk-metal ghouls Chesty Malone and the Slice 'Em Ups, screeches like Courtney Love in her heyday (but don't tell her that or she's liable to break an empty bottle of Old Grandad over your head). Tonight should prove to be one of the quirkier and more interesting evenings Midway's downstairs has seen.
