On Turkey Day (or Tofurkey Day, depending), most of us are trying to navigate family, football, and tryptophan — but for 18,000 New Yorkers, the holiday is one of the loneliest of the year. Citymeals-on-Wheels works with 85 different agencies to deliver food year-round to frail and elderly locals who can't shop or cook for themselves, and this Thanksgiving, they're asking for a little extra help. Before sitting down to your own feast this Thursday, spend some time at one of 11 senior centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, serving up traditional fare and old-fashioned conversation to old-timers who need our compassion as much as they need the nosh.
