MoMA The Museum of Modern Art says…

The colorful woodcuts of Gert and Uwe Tobias are the stuff of Grimm fairy tales — narrow paths worn through the woods, ominous mountain ranges, owls, and castles. The artists are an odd pair themselves: the twin brothers from the Transylvanian region of Romania work in adjoining studios, collaborating and often finishing each other's work. While their materials and subject-matter are rooted in folk traditions, they are not without a contemporary sense of humor, drawing heavily on Hollywood horror flicks and camp classics — including, yes, Dracula. In addition to woodcuts, the pair makes sculptural installations, ceramic pieces, typewriter drawings, and vibrant watercolors.
