- In Gloria, her newest evening-length work, Cypriot choreographer Maria Hassabi plays with iconic poses and postures and their accompanying associations and connotations. Presented as both a solo and trio performance in previous incarnations, this latest version of Gloria is a duet of sorts. Layering two distinct and disconnected solos, Hassabi dances alongside (not with) Hristoula Harakas. The two move through a series of common gestures and motions, occasionally finding moments of synchronicity in stillness. Set to the sounds of cars honking and cell phones ringing, Gloria is a slow, haunting walk through a familiar city.
