If there were a Geiger counter that detected, instead of toxic radiation, the presence of a heart in music listeners, it would likely emit the sound of Neil Young's Harvest and not that funny clicking. Some people, of course, can't stand the Canadian's distinct falsetto, swooping above steady acoustic guitar. And his lyrics — at least in his golden era — can be horribly obtuse, veering without explanation from the northern lights to neocolonial fantasies of poking Pocahontas. More recently, haters and fanatics alike agree that last year's Living in War was a small quagmire in itself — politics aside. But pick up the recently released Live at Massey Hall from 1971, and even the naysayers will be sheepishly squealing along under their breath.
