Yeasayer couldn't have picked a better name for themselves. It's epic. It's resolute. It's got an air of mystery — and so does the band's music. The Brooklynites are quickly racking up acclaim for their debut album, All Hour Cymbals, a brilliantly modern update on Fleetwood Mac, Talking Heads, and yes, Genesis. But it's their live show that really wins you over, casting a mesmerizing spell of polyrhythms, jam-band chants, incredible vocal harmonies, and fog machines. Openers Chairlift and High Places could each headline on their own (and likely will soon). Both bands' slightly folkier tunes and girlish vox are somewhat sweeter, but no less remarkable.
