Given the luxury condominiums sprouting like weeds in Long Island City, you'd think the nouveau-chic neighborhood is banking squarely on the future. On New Year's Eve, however, a couple of whimsical promoters take the neighborhood back to its old, forgotten roots. A Good Olde Fashioned Future is an all-night bash featuring jousting tournaments, stereoscopic photo booths, "antique" video games, and other quasi-archaic delights. Shanimal and Cardiac Arrest perform live, DJs keep the music coming, and the guests with the best costumes walk away with complimentary bottles of champagne. At the center of it all is nn honest-to-goodness time machine, which the promoters — Professor Winkel, and his aristocratic associate, Count Balktick — have spent eleven months constructing.
