Joy Parisi and Lila Cecil understand the importance of having a room of one's own. At Paragraph, their Union Square writing center, the proverbial room may not be completely solitary, but the quiet loft fosters the same type of atmosphere that Virginia Woolf so famously prescribed. Parisi and Cecil are both writers — they each received an MFA in fiction from the New School — so the center perfectly caters to the needs (kitchen, library, wireless Internet) and habits (24-hour access) of their clientele. And since nothing says "writer" like "starving," the membership fees vary according to payment regularity and full-time or part-time preference.
