John Connelly Presents
625 W 27th St

Godfather to queer artists everywhere, AA Bronson has made all varieties of artworks during his decades-long practice, focusing on a poetic obsession with the profundity of birth, friendship, love, death, and attempts at self-knowledge. In this exhibition at John Connelly Presents, Bronson showcases a collaboration with protégé (and now, art superstar) Terence Koh and nine acolytes, including photographer and illustrator Christophe Chemin, performance artist Michael Dudeck, design collective Item Idem (headed by Cyril Duval), and the artists who produce pulp novels and smut films under the pseudonym J.X. Williams. Scott Hug, who makes school-of-Warhol silkscreens, and Toronto-based filmmaker Scott Treleaven might both be familiar to fans of JCP, while Amsterdam-based feminist Sands Murray-Wassink and Canadian performer Naufus Ramirez-Figueroa are inspired newcomers to Chelsea.
