Friends and LA-studio neighbors Amanda Ross-Ho and Kirsten Stoltmann team up for this collaborative exhibition at Guild & Greyshkul. Both artists make collages with a feminist bent: Stoltmann creates disturbing mashups in a traditional cut-and-paste vein, while Ross-Ho takes a sculptural approach, juxtaposing disparate materials and found objects. Together, the duo play off one another's interests (for Ross-Ho, it's fabrics; for Stoltmann, it's an ironic use of pornography) in a series of photography, collage, and installation works. Their pieces barrage viewers with both "traditional" feminine imagery and the rejections of those values, putting all sorts of contradictory associations into play.
