In order to record Wu-Tang Clan's fifth album, the RZA had to drag the guys into the studio (Ghostface's solo career is taking off, and Raekwon apparently threatened to re-record the album without RZA), and the resulting 8 Diagrams bears the scars of its chaotic creation. It's an uneven, bloated record, but its high points are pretty damn high (the Beatles rip "The Heart Gently Weeps" is a menacing beauty of a track), and the Wu's accompanying tour is a killer-bee swarm of hits old and new — courtesy of mainstream hip-hop's tightest, weirdest crew of martial-arts geeks.
