Despite the continual resurgence of all things "psychedelic," no one can accuse Super Furry Animals of simply hopping aboard the wavy-gravy train. For years, the Welsh rockers have tithed to the gods of sunshine and hope, cultivating a body of work at once focused and eclectic, and altogether trippy to the core. Much like their oceanic back catalog, SFA's recent Hey Venus is a colorful, expansive affair that plays like a warped collection of radio-ready singles from another galaxy — a rare achievement in our fickle pop cosmos. Openers Holy Fuck retain the Furries' penchant for electronics but cut the vocals and add a dark, dirty groove.
