The realization that the three actors facing the audience and taking turns telling a story is not just a prologue, but also the play itself, might sadden some action-craving audience members. But as the stories continue and eventually interweave in Irish playwright Mark O'Rowe's latest work, Terminus, another realization occurs: sometimes, well-chosen words can still catapult vivid images into one's mind. Each of the play's stories contains terrifyingly graphic descriptions of violence and gore, the supernatural and the subhuman. O'Rowe's linguistic magic is evident not only in the rhyming of the prose, but in the poetic beauty given to even his most grotesque descriptions.
