Once upon a time, computer games were the domain of children and uber-nerds, but the proliferation of technology in the last decade has blurred the line between gamers and tech-art experimenters. Tonight, new-media arts organization Rhizome invites you to discuss this shift from Oregon Trail to today's highly designed virtual playgrounds, spotlighting recent landmarks such as Jason Rohrer's social-gardening concept, Cultivation, and Mark Essen's counterintuitive challenges of physics. Hosted by Ed Halter — author of From Sun Tzu to Xbox: War and Video Games — the discussion draws a crowd of aesthetes, programmers, and, really, anyone curious about the future of the creative world.
