One of LA's most unrepentant romantics, Stas Orlovski borrows liberally from art, poetry, and literature; from observation and fantasy; and from painting, drawing, and collage — in other words, he uses any muse necessary to engineer large-scale ramparts that stand in defense of beauty. From the dark folklore of his native Eastern Europe to the post-classical, fairy-tale surrealism of di Chirico — and even the faux-naive satire of Terry Gilliam — Orlovski generates an overgrown paradise of ruins, songbirds, goddesses, and just enough geometric abstraction to remind you it's all just a dream.
