You don't have to be a synth-pop or Italo-disco fanatic to appreciate a live Robotnick show. The free-spirited producer is known for a string of highly influential dance records from the early '80s — notably, "Problèmes D'Amore" — and as YouTube due diligence reveals, he's worth seeing for his sheer enthusiasm alone. He's prone to flailing and gyrating through interpretive dances behind a bank of blinking synthesizers and sequencers. That playful showmanship, coupled with Robotnick's pop reverence, makes for an out-of-the-ordinary evening.
