With his graphic style and street-wise influence, Jason Douglas Griffin gives us 80's Babies. These portraits of twentysomethings include paintings on canvas, board, and scraps of paper. The installation, with re-constructed found wood, sporadic tagging, and a collage of small paintings and sketches on makeshift shelves, implies a scattered sense of context — appropriate for those whose childhood days included hypercolor shirts and Hammer pants. Griffin's practice is generally composed through collaborative relationships with other artists, or, in this case, with each of his sitters. The result is a dynamic palimpsest of creative ideas and aesthetics.
