While Hot Chip were initially dismissed as electro jokers, it quickly became hard to ignore the brilliance of their genre-mashing sounds. That's not to say that the band's sense of humor has gone anywhere; it remains very much intact on Made in the Dark, its new album of funky, New Order-inspired songs. On "Wrestlers," Hot Chip combine DFA thump with the hilarious raunch of an R. Kelly song, while the frantic guitars and nonsensical lyrics of "Out at the Pictures" are bound to get feet moving. For its live show, the band fleshes out the hits for maximum crowd approval, so make sure you're "Ready for the Floor" tonight.
