The Ear to the Earth Festival brings together composers from around the globe in order to turn urban cacophony into musical beauty. Francisco López's Trilogy of the Americas transforms varied sounds from around NYC into a sensory-deprivation experience complete with audience blindfolds, while Walter Branchi's Ecstatic Static takes a softer approach by embracing silence. Reflecting upon environment as well as sound, Andrea Polli's Cloud Car creates its own climate. Meanwhile, panel discussions address culturally driven urban development, and guided "soundwalks" ask city dwellers to open their ears to everything we usually tune out.
