Silver Shed
119 W 25th St
Nestled on a roof in east Chelsea, artist-run contemporary art space the Silver Shed has only been open for a few months, but that hasn't kept its organizers from striving toward ambitious goals. For the final installment of its opening trilogy of exhibitions, the curators have enlisted an interdisciplinary group of artists whose work focuses on questions of representation, ownership, and social consciousness. CLUI considers our nation's land use with hand-made literature, and Fritz Haeg reconceives notions of a community's relationship to nature and exterior space. Meanwhile, Jace Clayton (aka DJ /rupture) and Rocío Rodríguez Salceda tackle issues of file-sharing and attribution with their limited-edition CD and found images printed on strips of rice paper for gallerygoers to nibble on.
