Gastropolis: Food and New York City

Foodies and NYC historians descend en masse on uptown bookstore Book Culture (formerly, and forever in some hearts, known as Labyrinth) tonight to hear from the two editors of Gastropolis, an in-depth look at New York's food heritage. If their guesting stint at the Times was any indication, experts Annie Hauck-Lawson and Jonathan Deutsch will shed plenty of light on everything from egg creams to pupusas. A bonus: there's a tasting following the reading.

This bookshop is awesome! And fittingly, not so far from some damn good Dominican food. Definitely going to hit Flor de Mayo for some tostones y pollo... or should I go Malecon style?

Gastropolis: With authors like Annie Hauck-Lawson and Jonathan Deutsch and the diverse and numerous varieties of food in NYC what can one say other than "Is this a great country or what?"
