Since forming in Swindon in 1987, Meat Beat Manifesto have toyed with breaks, techno, industrial, dub, and everything in between, carving out a distinct (if at times divisive) niche within electronic music. Founder Jack Dangers, meanwhile, has worked with everyone from Public Enemy and David Bowie to the Bee Gees (huh?) and David Byrne, and tonight hits NYC as part of a mini fall tour in support of Autoimmune, released earlier this year. Local weirdos Excepter join MBM at the Bowery tonight. Their electonic noise-improv jams channel ragga, techno, folk, and pop, coming off like national anthems for a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
