Video artist Pipilotti Rist exhibits a site-specific, immersive piece commissioned by MoMA across the museum's second-floor atrium. Attendees can walk around or observe these 25-foot-high moving images while seated on sculptural seating designed by the artist. Known for her explorations of gender and sexuality, Rist's early work was an outgrowth of her participation in the klezmer-punk-pop band Les Reines Prochaines in the late '80s. By 2005, her piece Homo sapiens sapiens was featured in the 51st Venice Bienniale.
