Cave Canem Poetry Night

Cave Canem is an inspiring, New York-based organization "committed to the discovery and cultivation of new voices in African-American poetry." Founded in 1996 by poet/educators Cornelius Eady and Toi Derricotte as an all-volunteer outfit, Cave Canem has grown to encompass workshops, readings, anthologies, and an annual first-book prize. Tonight, 15 participants in the organization's most recent workshop, "Braids, Cornrows, and the Gathering of Meaning," read recent material alongside workshop facilitator Jacqueline Jones LaMon.
