Longtime drum 'n bass promoter Martijn Deykers has found an surprising niche within the boundaries of dubstep, meshing the lush synth washes of Detroit techno with the sub-bass frequencies and syncopated rhythms of the genre. With a string of releases out and his anthemic remix of TRG's "Broken Heart" on Hessle Audio, 2008 proved to be a big year for the Dutchman, and 2009 should be even bigger as he prepares his debut album and has tracks reworked by the likes of Flying Lotus, 2562, and Scuba. He's joined by longtime underground-improv aesthete and Dub War regular Raz Mesiani, whose abstract, Middle Eastern-influenced dub project as Badawi keeps the wall of subwoofers thumping at Love.
